Why I fell in love with Benny

This photo is so sweet... It is my Grandfather and Benny- if I remember this photo was taken 2 weeks after we got Benny.

When I told my Mom that I wanted a puppy she said that she would think about it, and so a few days later she said that I can have a puppy.
And when I looked up puppies on a website there were a few puppies that I loved but when I saw the Beagle mix with a Terrier breed I looked at Benny's brothers and sisters and my mom and I were in love.

So we called the breeder of the dogs and we were the first one's to call about them, and so a week later we went to see the puppies and we decided that we were going to get the runt of the litter which is Benny. We picked him up 2 weeks later and the first night I brought him home I was so in love with him.

There are so many things that I love about Benny, his loving and sweetness. He is the best dog ever, now that he is a year old he fits right in. I love Benny so much and I want another Jackabee so bad lol- maybe in the future.

Meet Benny

This is Benny, he is my 1 year old Jackabee!

Benny is very loving and is the best dog ever, and he is super adorable.
Benny is such a great watch dog, when some one is walking by he goes
crazy and barks up a storm. Benny has the nose of a Beagle and the rest
is a Jack Russell Terrier. Benny is the perfect size and he fits right in. He
makes the family complete.

I live with my Mom and her boyfriend and we have 2 other dogs, we have Sox who is almost 10 years old. Sox is a Boxer mix with a Husky, and then there is Natasha who is a Chocolate Lab she is going to be 7 or 8 years old in August.

Sox and Natasha love Benny, they play a lot and Natasha is like Benny's second mom. Benny is not really hyper like the Jack Russell Terrier, he is smart and is very loving. He does have the loud bark of the Beagle, he goes up and down our back yard barking like crazy. He loves being outside he mostly does not like coming inside lol, he loves to snuggle. He loves to play and is very loyal, he jumps like a Jack Russell but he does not jump crazy and high like Jack Russells do.

When I found Benny last May, I fell in love with him. He was the runt of the litter and the one that was trying to live, and I knew that he was the right dog for me because I have been through a lot with surgeries and I have disabilites, so I know we were going to be best buddies :).

What is a Jackabee

A lot of people want to know, what is a Jackabee? A Jackabee is a Beagle mix with a Jack Russell, here are a few things that you need to know about the breed.

The Jackabee will make a fantastic pet, but it is also a high energy breed. They might have the nose scent of a Beagle and the hyper and very active of the Jack Russell Terrier. Like the Jack Russell Terrier they need lots of walks and room to run around. They are great with kids and dogs, you need to train them well when they are puppies.

A fenced in yard is a must, cause like I said before the breed have the Beagle nose in them, and when they are on a sent they are on it. And there is no way you are going to stop them. Jackabees are very loyal and some are smart, sometimes they are stubburn. If you want a dog a long time this is the right dog for you. Cause Jackabees have great health and can live up to 15 years, some of them can live even longer then that.

A cross between the Jack Russell Terrier and the Beagle, the Jack-A-Bee originated along with several dozen “hybrid” dogs that became popular for being (supposedly) healthier than many purebred canines. Some breeders believe the Jack-A-Bee’s vibrant energy comes from “hybrid vigor,” which is when a healthier dog results from combining two purebreds.
The Look of the Jack-A-Bee
:
The Jack-A-Bee looks exactly as you would expect—a slightly bigger and rounder (or Beagle-sized) version of the Jack Russell Terrier. This small to medium-sized dog usually has a flat head with some width at the ears. These medium-length ears tend to hang forward, close to the cheek. The Jack-A-Bee has a smooth, tough coat that can come in tan& white, black & white, black, white & tan or other color combinations.
What They're Like to Live With
:
When you cross a Jack Russell Terrier with a Beagle, you expect a high energy, courageous and athletic canine. And that’s just what you get with the Jack-A-Bee. Bursting with energy, the Jack-A-Bee brings a perky, lively “big dog” personality into the home. This dog may be small, but it’s quite a handful. Whether it’s in the puppy stage or fully matured, get ready for lots of chasing, playtime and activity.
Protective without being aggressive, the Jack-A-Bee makes an excellent, compact watchdog—ideal for apartment living. It can sometimes be suspicious of other dogs and strangers, but it also has a sociable side. The Jack-A-Bee makes a lovable playmate for older children. Overall, the Jack-A-Bee is an excellent family dog and lifelong friend.
Things You Should Know
:
The Jack-A-Bee can live as long as 15 years—sometimes longer. Because it is a hybrid, it has relatively few genetic health issues. Nevertheless, it’s a good idea to regularly inspect the Jack-A-Bee’s ears, feet and eyes for signs of infection, and schedule regular health visits based on a veterinarian’s advice. Grooming is very easy: Brush its smooth, tough coat regularly and bathe it occasionally.
The Jack-A-Bee retains some of the hunting instincts of its parents. It has a good nose, likes to dig and has a keen interest in squirrels and birds. In addition to a daily walk, the Jack-A-Bee needs some time off the leash to run and explore. If you can allow it some time in a protected outdoor area, by all means do.
